Finally, we are here in Hong Kong, where is so crowded and internationalized
in my impression. This time, I did wish that I would have more time to look
more deeply inside this special city.

After landing, I just found that everything got newer and fancier here than before,
lights sparkling everywhere, in streets or by buildings, which drew my attention
so much. We took the airport express and bus toward our Royal Pacific Hotel directly,
with small rooms, adequate facilities, and so convenient spot next to the downtown.

On the first day, we were so tired and hungry, and it’s said HK is a cuisine attraction.
We couldn’t help but seeking for restaurants and the local HK dishes around.
Everything tastes so nice and still the same as what I remembered from memories.
I think I fell in love with HK at the first sight, just like the first time I was in NY.

Afterwards, we took subway and the train going up to Tai-Ping Mt., this is the most
recommended to see the night view of HK, paralleled with Victoria Harbor. One is
from the mountain side, from the high to the all, and the other is from the seaside,
from the flat to the broad. It’s really amazing, and I was completely surprised by such
beautiful lightings, which is reported as the brightest city at night around the world.

Besides, shopping, shopping and shopping, eating and glimpsing are also important,
sometimes, it’s not easy to describe all the things to be seen, heard and felt. Then I
just have been amazed and simultaneously shocked by every slight discovery, people
passed by, various kinds of transportation, rushing hours, interconnected skyscrapers
and so on.

You just cannot tell HK is part of China, of where I just flew from one of the biggest
cities as well. There are so many foreigners walking by you, and you can hear so
different languages spoken. There are variety of the most luxury boutiques and
department stores standing in front of you, and there is no business, commercials and
money-diggers dashing through the city.

HK people are proud and cool, but some of them still embrace dreams and believe in
idealism. I met one guy, of the latter category, whose name is Monk, our tour guide of
the second day. Start from the HK University by bus, he even brought us to every corner
of sites for local people.

By looking and walking around, I observe more than the attractions suggested by
brochures. The traditional markets and lifestyle behind colorful glories, it’s also
astonished that makes me think of certain outlooks of Taipei. The everlasting escalators,
bringing residents and tourists to the peak of hills, are really incredibly special for me.

Mixed with night markets and the dreamy architectures, the occupied tai-pai-dong and
the empty karaoke bar, it’s kind of hard to say which one I like more, but it’s just the
culture, the humor and the desire of HK, along with its convenience, its pace and its
changes.

On the last day, I found that I got lost, lost in my complicated feeling and attitude
toward this city. I hate extravagance, but I love prosperity. I love people, but I hate
crowdedness. I like to get involved in new surroundings, but I dislike to be put to edge
in order to take all.

Anyway, I’ll still find another way to HK one day. Maybe my thought of this big city
will be changed as such of NY changed since this year I was there of this March.

* Well, as usual~~special thanks for Monk, who really brought lots of joys to me!!!
