來到紐約的第三天 也是這趟克難之旅的最後一天
一大早 大家急急急忙地在最短的時間內收拾行李
然後趕忙搭著地鐵到Columbia University 與亨利和CY會合
在門口就看到了龐大的人潮往校園湧去 很是壯觀
這可是一所 已經造就七十位諾貝爾獎得主的學校
心想 眼前這群人肯定是來自各地最優秀的學生吧
這天天氣特別清爽 陽光也曬得人懶洋洋的很舒服
甫進去 就能看見融合希臘柱與羅馬拱頂的圖書館
臺階中有座Alma Mater雕像 聽說找到他身上的貓頭鷹才能畢業
從上往下眺 是一大片的綠和古典式建築相互映照
會合後 在CY引領下 接連地參觀了三棟法學院大樓
其中一棟裡 竟然還在公佈欄上看到了麥可的名字
真教人吃驚 原來他的學術觸角已經伸到美國來了
校園裡有座沉思者 嗅到了我思故我在的學術氣息
最後逛了校園裡的書局 但我只買了本波蘭文字典
離開CU 和CY道別後 大家趕緊衝回旅館辦Check-out
接著兵分二路 有一夥人跟Liz約在飯館裡有個聚餐
包括我的另一群人 再搭地鐵輾轉地殺到第五大道
因為V-line遲遲不來 只好搭F-line到六大道 再走去五大道
其實剩沒多少時間 所以我們也只逛了A&F一家店而已
那是間高消費額的服飾店 抽象的格局和旋轉樓梯
門口站了一個裸上身的男模 全面的陰暗感覺晦澀
老實說 店裡的氣味和播放的音樂是頗具衝突感的
因為旗艦店 所以連刻意呈現的絢爛感都是高規格
在已經遲到的情況下 跑回地鐵竟發現列車停駛了
為了某個街頭樂團的表演 而關掉了地鐵站及封街
無計可施之下 一行人只得咬緊牙根搭上了計程車
司機來自巴基斯坦 過去曾為巴國駐聯的大使駕車
知道打台灣來 就瘋狂地和我聊著一國兩治的話題
但其實那一刻 車上的四個人心裡都忐忑不安的很
到了某一個路口 塞車的情況完全地堵住了車流量
於是我聽了司機的建議 衝下車死命地往旅館狂奔
終於趕到了 拎了行李再跑回上一個路口的計程車
再請他快馬加鞭地送我們到時代廣場 搭去DC的車
但車還是又塞住了 只好在兩個街口前和他說再見
下了車 我們一群人又開始沒頭沒腦地向站牌狂跑
幸好公車誤點了 也幸好還是趕到了回華盛頓的車
一群人餓著肚子回到WDC 所以在中國城先吃晚餐
那是一家份量很多的BBQ酒足飯飽後才又搭了計程車
目的地是Fairmont Hotel 途中司機也高談闊論了中國議題
我心想美國司機還真有世界觀 連台灣的事都瞭解
在DC的第一餐 大夥兒犒賞自己 吃了頓Starbucks
終於 來美國比國際賽的正式行程也即將要展開了
但從這天海克特也正式宣告掛病號 整整躺了七天
中午有一場Registration 下午有另一場Orientation
今年的Jessup Cup是由Shearman & Sterling贊助舉辦的
說明會中 最引人注目的是Kosovo代表隊的介紹
中間愛麗絲也到了 此時台灣代表隊終於全員到齊
在Trader Joe's歡樂大採買後 接著是傍晚的交換訴狀
今年 我們遇到的對手分別是Serbia Poland Nigeria Canada
悠悠哉哉的期限屆至 而好戲這一刻才真正要登場
